Low-Carbon Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (formerly known as "Natural Gas Chemical Industry ") was founded in 1976, changed to the current name in January 2023, and transitioned to a monthly publication in January 2024. It is superintended by China Haohua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. and sponsored by Southwest Institute of Chemical Co., Ltd. It is one of the first recognized scientific and technological academic journals in China. The journal is publicly distributed both domestically and internationally (ISSN 2097-2547, CN 51-1807/TQ), with a domestic distribution code of 62-269 and a abroad distribution code of BM2893.
The journal is currently indexed by "Overview of China Core Journals" of Peking University Library of China and "The key magazine of China technology", and is "RCCSE China Core Academic Journals" and “the source journal of the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report of Scientific and Technological Periodicals”. It also currently indexed by CAS, AJ, EBSCO host, Ulrichsweb, JST, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data-Digital Periodical Group, VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, etc. It is selected as T2 level journal in the first edition of "Classification Catalogue of High quality Science and Technology Journals in Chemical Industry" and "Classification Catalogue of High Quality Science and Technology Journals in Petroleum and Gas Industry", and won the award of "The Second National Top 100 Petroleum and Chemical Journals" and "Top 60 Academic Journals". From 2023 to 2025, it has also been awarded the "Excellent Planning Award for Sichuan Journals".
Adhering to the purpose of "publishing new theories, new technologies and new progress in the field of low-carbon chemical industry, facilitating academic exchanges, promoting the transformation of achievements, and contributing to the development of low-carbon economy", this journal insists on giving equal importance to scientific research and engineering technology development and application, and continuously creates distinctive and high-quality columns, such as C1 chemistry and catalytic conversion, low-carbon molecular transformation and synthesis, carbon resources transformation and utilization, green and low-carbon chemical technology, separation materials and purification technology, carbon dioxide capture and utilization, hydrogen production and hydrogen energy development and utilization, development and utilization of natural gas and so on. This journal also strengthens the planning of characteristic special issues and columns around key and hot topics, and strives to fully utilize its own characteristics and advantages, timely and accurately reports on research progress, technological achievements and development trends in the field of low-carbon chemical engineering, and serves for the national "Dual Carbon" goal.
Target reader: Experts and scholars, university teachers and students, researchers in research institutes, enterprise researchers and engineering technicians in related fields and management and marketing personnel in related industries.
